Utah Salt Lake Temple Square Mission
July 13, 2014
This Saturday we were able to go to Brighton again to the
girl’s camp that is located there. We
had gone there last year and the sisters had such a good time. There were a lot of team building activities
that helped them bond. It was a
beautiful day and a nice break from normal missionary activities. It is at times like this that we miss our
cabin in the mountains, the beauty and the cooler temperatures. But, we know it was by divine help that it
was sold and so we are content.
The last two transfers we have not been as faithful to our
district as we should, so we vowed this transfer to be consistent in our
attendance. They are doing something
different in the district, instead of role playing with each other, they are
doing “real play” in that we have members and non-members come and we teach
them – a very interesting dynamic.
Several people have referred because of this experience. We have such a lovely district leader, so
dedicated, loving and faithful.
This week we also had large group training during Relief
Society time. Taggart, along with the
temple coordinators, have been working very hard on this presentation. As we give tours there are some real areas of
concern and room for improvement. The
training went very well and we all learned a great deal. I know personally that I always need to go
with the Spirit or I cannot teach.
Taggart had a cortisone shot this week. We were so hopeful that it would alleviate the
pain, however it did not. He has decided
to have surgery next week because he cannot go on living with this
discomfort. After surgery he will be
wearing a brace for four to twelve weeks.
With the summer being so hot, it will be difficult having this brace
around his neck. The advantage is that
it will be over for him and he can go forth and have some needed energy and be
free of pain and pills.
As always, we talked with Diane this week. She continues to struggle with her financial
situation, but she is attending church and trying to read scriptures and
pray. She is quite the character and we
have many good laughs over the phone.
She always expresses her love for us and says we are the miracle in her
life at the moment. For us too, we have
made a good friend and hope someday to meet her. She says if she is ever baptized we have to
be there and we thoroughly agree.
